I have not had a Christmas morning like this since I was a child. I woke to find two of the greatest gifts surprises of my life. You see, I’m a guitar player. More than that, I’m a guitar nut. I’m crazy about all kinds of guitars and have a number of them in my collection. A Gibson Les Paul, Gretsch Duo Jet, Sheckter C1 Plus, Fender Stratocaster, Ovation Elite Special, Washburn EA 10 Acoustic/Electric, and my prize possession, a 1969 Gibson LG-0 Acoustic.
However, this morning my wonderful wife surprised me with the addition of two amazing guitars. The first one is a Gibson Angus Young Signature SG. Man, I’ve been dying for this guitar since I first placed Back In Black on my turntable back in 1980. This is a real nice rock guitar. Nice, crunchy yet lean sound. I patched it through my Marshall and cranked it, blowing the windows out of my house this morning around 7 a.m. to the tune of Highway to Hell. (Nothing says Merry Christmas to the neighbors better.) :0 I’m lovin’ this guitar!
The second guitar, and the biggest surprise of all, was a custom made Martin JC Buddy Guy acoustic. Man, what a beauty. I’ve been dreaming about an acoustic guitar of this calibre for most of my guitar playing life. In fact, if I had to choose one guitar to live out the rest of my life with, this would be the one I’d pick.
Also, the Martin came with a moulded case and the SG came with a gig bag.
All in all, the best Christmas I’ve had in about 35 years.
Thanks Deb, for a great and memorable Christmas.
