Jazz great leaves us.

Today, jazz legend Oscar Peterson passed away. He played along side most of the greats of jazz and established himself as one of those greats during the 1950's with the formation of the the Oscar Peterson trio.

His contribution to jazz was immense and he will be long remembered by those that know and love the music.

My personal experience with Oscar's music was learning to play his signature piece the "Canadiana Suite". My piano skills being considerably less than what the piece calls for, I nonetheless continued on learning it and with much, much practice I got it. It remains one of my greatest musical joys to be able to sit and play this when my spirit needs a little lifting.

He well be greatly missed.

Thanks for posting this. I was going to, but having seen you do it is good enough.

He was the man - and he'll be greatly missed.

I hope you're jamming with the greats who preceded you.

That's a jam session I'd love to sit in on . . .
