You couldn't get hold of the things you'd done and turn them right again. Such a power might be given to the gods, but it was not given to women and men, and that was probably a good thing. Had it been otherwise, people would probably die of old age still trying to rewrite their teens.
Stephen King
We do not have to visit a madhouse to find disordered minds; our planet is the mental institution of the universe.
Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
Civilization is unbearable, but it is less unbearable at the top.
Timothy Leary
Society honors its living conformists and its dead troublemakers.
Mignon McLaughlin
Society has always seemed to demand a little more from human beings than it will get in practice.
George Orwell
Do not waste your time on Social Questions. What is the matter with the poor is Poverty; what is the matter with the rich is Uselessness.
George Bernard Shaw
How can a society that exists on instant mashed potatoes, packaged cake mixes, frozen dinners, and instant cameras teach patience to its young?
Paul Sweeney
Formerly, when religion was strong and science weak, men mistook magic for medicine; now, when science is strong and religion weak, men mistake medicine for magic.
Thomas Szasz
One of the definitions of sanity is the ability to tell real from unreal. Soon we'll need a new definition.
Alvin Toffler
I think it's fair to say that personal computers have become the most empowering tool we've ever created. They're tools of communication, they're tools of creativity, and they can be shaped by their user.
Bill Gates
Like almost everyone who uses e-mail, I receive a ton of spam every day. Much of it offers to help me get out of debt or get rich quick. It would be funny if it weren't so exciting.

The friendship that can cease has never been real.
Saint Jerome (374 AD - 419 AD)
Do not let your deeds belie your words, lest when you speak in church someone may say to himself, 'Why do you not practice what you preach?'
Saint Jerome (374 AD - 419 AD)
Be kind - Remember every one you meet is fighting a battle - everybody's lonesome.
Marion Parker
Television is a medium of entertainment which permits millions of people to listen to the same joke at the same time, and yet remain lonesome.

A different twist on "words to live by".....
The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings but shorter tempers, wider freeways, but narrower viewpoints. We spend more, but have less, we buy more, and enjoy less. We have bigger houses and smaller families, more conveniences, but less time. We have more degrees but less sense, more knowledge, but less judgement, more experts, yet more problems, more medicine, but less wellness....
We've learned how to make a living, but not a life. We've added years to life not life to years. We've been to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing the street to meet a new neighbor. We conquered outer space but not inner space. We've done larger things, but not better things.....

part 2 of 3..... (a 3rd addition was added)
These are the times of fast foods and slow digestion, big men and small character, steep profits and shallow relationships. These are the days of two incomes but more divorce, fancier houses, broken homes. These are the days of quick trips, disposable diapers, throw-a-away morality, one night stands, over weight bodies, and pills that do everything from cheer, to quiet, to kill. It is a time when there is much in the showroom window and nothing in the stockroom. A time when technology can bring a letter to you, and a time when you can choose either to share an insight, or to just hit delete......

3 of 3.....then done!
Remember, spend some time with your loved ones, because they are not going to be around forever. Remember, say a kind word to someone who looks up to you in awe, because that little person soon will grow up and leave your side. Remember, to give a warn hug to the one next to you, because that is the only treasure you can give with your heart and it doesn't cost a cent.
Remember, to say,"I love you" to your partner and your loved ones, but most of all; mean it. A kiss and an embrace will mend hurt when it comes from deep inside of you. Remember to hold hands and cherish the moment for someday that person will not be there again. Give time to love, give time to speak, and give time to share the precious thoughts in your mind.
I'm done!

DONT QUIT!
when things go wrong as they sometimes will
when the road you're trudging seems all up hill
when funds are low & debts are high
when you want to smile but you have to sigh
when care is pressing you down a bit
rest if you may but
don't you quit!
life is queer with its twists and turns
as every one of us sometimes learns
and many a fellow turns about
when he might have won if he stuck it out
don't give up though the pace is slow
you may succeed with another blow
often the goal is nearer than it seems to a faint faltering man;
often the struggler has given up, when he might have captured the victors cup
and he learned too late when when the night came down
how close he was too the golden crown
success is failure turned inside out
the silver tint of the clouds of doubt
and you never can tell how close you are
it might be near when it seams afar
so stick to the fight when you're hardest hit
it's when things seem worse that
YOU MUST NOT QUIT!!

Push me to the limit
